What is Hilltown Resilience Network?

We are a group of concerned residents who have banded together to strengthen our communities’ capacity to prepare for, withstand, and recover from disasters, economic shocks, and chronic stressors — keeping neighbors connected and no one left behind. 

What towns are included?

Our focus is currently on the towns of Shelburne and Buckland. but we welcome interest from any hilltowns in Western Massachusetts . 

What are the Hilltowns of Western Franklin County?

Franklin County’s hilltowns are nestled primarily in the northwest corner, along the foothills of the Berkshires and the Deerfield River watershed and include Ashfield, Buckland, Charlemont, Colrain, Conway, Hawley, Heath, Leyden, Monroe, Rowe and Shelburne.

What are Neighborhood Hubs?

Our Hubs have two spokes - 

The Emergency Hubs are designated physical locations where residents can gather during major events like power outages or severe storms such as Hurricane Irene. These hubs serve as central points to access critical information, essential supplies, and vital relief services to support community survival and recovery.

The Community Hubs focus on bringing neighbors together. They connect residents with local resources, services, and events so everyone feels supported—whether navigating a sudden emergency or celebrating a milestone.

What is the Community Coffee all about?

Connection. We believe there is more that unites us that divides us. Here's an opportunity to discover new friends and connect with familiar ones. There is no agenda, no pressure, no politics. Just good neighbors and good conversation.  

How can I be involved?

Join us at an upcoming meeting and share your interest—we’d love to help you find your spot! We’re actively looking for team members to help bring this vision to life, including: 

• Neighborhood Hub Organizers to lead local efforts.

• Coffee Hosts to welcome folks to our monthly community coffee.

• Steering Committee Members to help guide our direction.

• Community Liaisons to connect with neighboring towns.

When and where does HRN meet?

The Steering Committee meets at 5:30 pm on the Second Monday of each month in Trinity Church, Severance Street, Shelburne Falls. Interested community members are welcome to attend.

HRN has two Hylo pages, one for our ongoing Steering Committee work and one for the Public.
